Dr. Aubrey Smith
Dr Smith is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with more than 25 years experience. His focused practice on Shoulder Surgery and complex Arthroscopic and Reconstructive Surgery of the upper extremity and the knee has provided patients across the region with comprehensive care and follow up on over 500 surgical procedures a year.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Orthopedic Association, and the Potter Randall County Medical Society.
His education over a 14 year period included many Major Universities and Facilities including Texas A&M, Texas Tech, the University of Texas, the University of Kentucky, Mayo Clinic, the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Lexington, and the Christine Klinert Institute of Upper Extremity Surgery. He currently participates in an International Study of Total Shoulder Arthroplasty, has ongoing research on Shoulder Arthroscopic Surgery, has presented his work both at the national and international level. His experience in research extends back to his time in medical school and undergraduate school and has included topics in physiology, anatomy, and surgical follow up. His research at Texas A&M earned him a University Undergraduate Research Fellow appointment and a graduation honor of Summa Cum Laude with the presentation of his research as a thesis.
Dr. Smith is dedicated to not only providing the most up to date and current techniques but is committed to understanding the results of procedures and surgeries long term. His commitment to the patients of the region is evidenced by his longstanding presence in the community. He also has a commitment to the medical community and has 10 years experience on the Surgical Policy committee, has served as Chief of Surgery, and I have representedl Texas Physicians on the committee for Practice Management for the Texas Medical Association. He has served in the past also as a team physician for the University of Kentucky, Georgetown University, and for Tascosa High School.
Dr. Smith is married and has 3 children all growing up in the Amarillo Community. He and his wife Robin have been active supporters of the community and have supported many Amarillo and Panhandle charitable organizations that include the Amarillo Area Foundations, the Evelyn Rivers Christmas project, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Young Life, the Race for the Cure, and many others. His wife Robin has volunteered in many organizations and has been a member of the Amarillo Symphony leadership, the Junior League, and has donated many long hours serving our community in a host of different organizations.
